This afternoon's class occurred at the library. Earlier Radka had mentioned that talking on the phone was difficult, so for this lesson we reviewed expressions to say while talking on the phone. I taught her how to leave a message, how to ask to speak to someone (and to give the reason why you're calling them), how to reserve tickets, tables, seats, or booths for concerts and restaurants, and how to call information. We also covered how to call someone long distance with operator assistance.
This was something I planned out in advance, so it was mostly teaching her the steps in sequence so that she could use them, while keeping the steps generic enough for her to substitute in her own information when necessary. After we finished the lesson, she asked me to teach her about the weather, which is going to be the subject of our next lesson this Friday.
