Taylor CP #3
So last night after the football game, I took my CP, Jose Miguel to a real "American" experience: The Palace Saloon. This was the first time I have ever been to that bar so I did not know what to expect but my roommate insisted that it would be "cultural." When my roommate and I picked up Jose Miguel I realized that I forgot my id and money (we rushed home from the game) and Jose Miguel started to joke around that I kept reminding him not to forget his, but I forgot mine. His English has improved drastically, and he told me it was because he has been reading everyday. When we got to the Palace, there was country music going and many FSU fans from the football game. He told me it was very different from any place in Venezuela. I explained to him what tailgating was and why there were so many parents at the bar. We also started to speak in country accents and my roommate and I tried to explain what "rednecks" were and when it was appropriate to use that word. He thought it was really funny. Jose talked a lot about his country and what the bars were like over there. He said that bars are more like clubs but smaller and play more Reggaeton and close way later. Next week I hope to take him to the zoo or something more interesting than a bar.
