Kristen Braun TP #2- BJ 10/27

BJ and I met for our second session on Wednesday, October 27 at the county library. The weekend prior he had taken a trip to the Smoky Mountains so I asked him to prepare to tell me about the trip for this session. This was an opportunity for me to listen to him talk hear some of his struggles in pronunciation and then for him to have a chance to speak at length. I had also prepared some lists of prepositions and a story to read together from a book I found in the library but we didn't really have a chance to get to those items.

He was eager to tell about his trip which was about four days long and we had a lot of chances to talk about different expressions (sick to my stomach, going before/ going after someone/ horse drawn carriage). We got to talking about Native Americans due to his spending time in Cherokee and having the chance to view their different lifestyle.

We did get a chance to read aloud a little but the session was mostly talking. He needs and wants to talk and listen and better his pronunciation but I felt a little frustrated with my lacking in preparing a lesson to target his needs. Which is what Karen and I have spent some time talking about; I try to find the consistent mistakes and spend fifteen minutes each class addressing them. Which is a reinforcement of keeping it simple. Stupid.
