On Saturday I went to the Tallahassee Museum (or Jr. Museum for Tally natives) with Y and her 4 year old daughter. I think it was a very successful few hours, because the animal habitat trail allowed us to talk a lot about animals native to Florida and the SE. Similarly with the farm and its animals. A place like the Jr. Museum is always more fun with a kid in tow. Y's daughter is learning English as well so I tried talking to her about her favorite subject - Disney princesses (for info, Ariel is her favorite, but Snow White is the one who eats the apple).
Because she can't drive, I know Y doesn't get out much around town, so this was a good opportunity for her to be surrounded by the conversations of native English speakers. We also would read over the different signs in English describing the animals and/or buildings. There were some people dressed in 19th century clothing as well, which allowed us to talk a little about American history and culture.
Oh, I also saw Daniel and his CP there, so obviously a good place to take CP/TPs!
Oooh I hadn't thought about this! What a great place to go!
