For this session with Radka I printed out pages and pages of prepositions. I had intended to review them and go on to some fill in the blank questions I had for which to use with different locations and time but we started talking about more difficult expressions. We ended up spending most of our time discussing different confusing words "in spite of, despite, save, notwithstanding."
*smacks forehead with palm of hand* I don't know why I thought her immediate understanding of these words was crucial to her getting around the states for the next few months.
Even still, I did my best explaining the expressions with example sentences "Despite my mother's many warnings, I still smoke cigarettes." "I still smoke in spite of all my mother's warnings." "I am still smoking, my mom's advice notwithstanding."
I will need to continue talking about these types of words it seems. I will try to direct the focus onto more everyday/ every sentence words like "at", "on" and and the confusing whens and wheres.
Our time together pretty was discouraging for me.
We were going to meet for our third session on Thursday 11/4 but she needed to reschedule.
