Taylor TP #3

Today I met with Cynthia and we immediately jumped into her vocabulary words that we looked at last week on Friday. Over the weekend I looked up meanings of the words and sentences so that she can see how the word was used. I first had a small review session to see how many she remembered then we reviewed the ones that she had trouble with. I had her read the words aloud and try to understand the meaning. We could have studied these 10 words for the whole hour, but it was time to break up the session so next class, I plan on reviewing them with her and making sentences of her own.

The second half of the session, I had prepared two tongue twisters with the "th-" sound for her to practice. After explaining to her that it was necessary for her to stick out her tongue when making the sound, she mastered it. Now she can say Thursday, feather, and tooth in a more flowy matter. I also printed out a article about Thanksgiving and explained briefly the history behind it and had her read it aloud. There were so many "th-" sounds and she did so well! I think she practiced over the weekend. After reading it, she circled all the words she did not understand and we went over them together. Now that she has learned the "th-" sound, I think we will move on to mastering the "-ow" sound as in "show" and the ending "-ity" as in "creativity."

  1. Taylor, can I snatch your tounge twister on Thursday? My salvadorians also have waaaay too many problems with the 'th' sound and I think it would be a great idea to do something like that.
